The ketoconazole content of this soap is effective in alleviating fungal infections like jock itch, flaking skin condition, athlete's foot and ringworm by acting against pathogenic fungus like epidermophyton sp., trichophyton sp and microsporum sp. This specific element also acts against yeasts like malessezia ovale, candida sp and malessezia furfur. The special composition of ketoconazole affects the activities of cell membrane of fungus by hindering cytochrome P450 14-demethylase enzyme. This enzyme is instrumental in promoting cell membrane function of fungus and yeast by transforming lanestrol into enastrol. Thus ketoconazole weakens fungus and prevents their multiplication on human skin. Persons allergic to ketoconazole topical should not use this soap.
